YMCA opens city pools, offers free swim lessons

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina and the City of Wilmington says the Robert Strange and Legion Stadium pools will be open this summer.

Pools will be open to the community by call-in reservations only and swimmers can expect to go through a safety screening before entering.

The city’s Robert Strange Pool recently opened to the public on Monday, June 22 and Legion Stadium Pool will open on Friday, July 3. The YMCA says Northside Pool is undergoing major renovations and will reopen soon.

The YMCA will be offering a modified version of its Swim for Life program Saturday mornings during the month of July. Swim for Life is a free water safety and swim lessons program offered to the community to help prevent drownings in our area. The program free is designed to teach children and adults about pool, beach and boat safety, as well as basic swimming skills.
